Stand For Schools remembers Dr. Danita Webb

We are deeply saddened by the recent death of Dr. Danita D. Webb, who served on the Board of Directors for Stand For Schools since 2018.

Dr. Webb was a dedicated leader and a tireless advocate for public education in the Omaha community and beyond. In too short a time, she accomplished so much: After spending years in the classroom as a beloved teacher, Dr. Webb served as a mentor, as Co-Founder of the Gifted Minds Learning Center, as a School Improvement Manager to Omaha Public Schools, and as an Assistant Principal. She was particularly passionate about using research-based strategies and smart public policy to address the opportunity gap in high-poverty schools and neighborhoods.

The value and impact of Dr. Webb’s contributions to Stand For Schools – her expertise, leadership, and lived experience – is immeasurable. Her enduring belief in the common good, in the potential of all students, and in the power of public policy to promote equity and excellence in education will continue to guide and inspire the staff and Board of Stand For Schools for years to come.

Connie Duncan, President of the Stand For Schools Board, said:

“It was a tremendous privilege to work alongside Danita, who was as courageous as she was compassionate in all she did – her personal life, her professional career, and her philanthropic service. We are grateful for the time she so selflessly shared with us. Her legacy will be a lasting one, and she will be missed greatly by all of us at Stand For Schools. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family and friends.”

Funeral services for Dr. Webb will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Greater St. Paul Church (2123 Miami Avenue in Omaha).
